The Location Hunt

As soon as we got engaged and figure out how many people would be invited/attending we starting looking for venues.  We really wanted something that we could do the ceremony and reception and preferred they had all of the supplies (tables, linens, etc.)  This shouldn't be a problem, however our list came out to 370 people, and we are expecting around 200.  There are not many places in Seattle that can hold this amount of people, for an ecomical price.  Thus the search began...

The Edgewater Hotel

Picture
The Pros
+ The feel of the hotel - log/wood cabin in the middle of the city
+ The view of the sound and being right on the water's edge (hence the name of the hotel)
+ The ballroom was beautifully decorated and their books of photos were amazing.

The Cons
- The terrace that we would have the cocktail hour would be too small, and over looked the parking lot, not the water.
- The ballroom was just barely big enough for 200, that meant putting the cake and buffet in cubby holes and having a small dance floor.
- The price for food was pretty expensive (85/person)

Shishole Bay Beach Club

Picture
The Pros
+ On the waterfront
+ The lady helping us was very attentive and listened to all the details we wanted
+ The beach front was beautiful for a ceremony
+ They had all their tables, white linens and flatware
+ Large Parking lot

The Cons
- The dining room was shaped weird in that we won't be able to have a large space for dancing or a head table
- The beach was just that, a beach and I knew I wanted a fall setting
- They nickle and dimed for everything

The Renaissance Hotel

Picture
The Pros

+ Even the enterance to the ballroom was beautiful

The Cons

+ Cheap catering - starting at $30/person
+ Free valet parking (and LOTS of it)

The Cons
- Outside of downtown - 40 ish mi north
- At a casino...can seem cheap

The Decision

We have made a decision and have the deposit down.  I am keeping the name quiet for security reasons.  But it is a beautiful venue and hope the food is just as delicious!
